Aunt Laura Visits from CA

Aunt Laura came in for a week-long visit during her college spring break in early April. After having her babysit multiple times (I got the Honda's oil changed, we went to a concert, I got my teeth cleaned and took the dog to the vet) we decided she needed to get out of the house, so Brian and I took her to Charleston for the day. We stopped at the Air Force base down there to eat lunch and then went to the historic downtown to walk around. We window shopped a little, walked along the water on cobblestone streets, and ate a snack from the fudge shop in a park along the water while Brian ran around on the grass. It was at this park that he discovered the sad truth about what happens when you run full-toddler-speed at wild birds screaming full-blast, they fly away. This was very frustrating for him. He just wanted to pet them nicely like he does to his dog at home (yeah right). Anyways, here at some pictures where he was completely uninterested in getting his picture taken.

Steve somehow was in the right place at the right time at work a few weeks ago and the base Chaplain thought he was a deserving Airman (he is) and gave him two third-row, center stage seats to the George Strait concert in Columbia. And what made it even more perfect is that Aunt Laura had just arrived for a week-long visit and so graciously volunteered to hang with Brian while we enjoyed a night out. Sarah Johns and Miranda Lambert opened for George. We were so close, neither of us have ever been so close at a concert, it was great. Here are some pictures before and during the concert:

Oh, wow, it's been a long time!

We haven't been updating this blog too much lately (almost two months) due to some terrible computer issues, a bad flu, a visit from Aunt Laura and just laziness on my part. After four reformats of the hard drive on our two year old Dell laptop, we've given in to purchasing a new fancy Dell desktop (thank you econonic stimulus check). It's not here yet, I'm told it's so fancy that it will take almost two weeks to build, Steve is checking daily to see updates about when his new electronic baby will enter the world. As for right now, our old Dell seems to be chugging along, but we aren't trusting it with our pictures or anything else important. So, anyways, the computer issues are my excuse for not updating lately. I'll try to post a few times today to catch you up on the last two months.

We just got home from a delicious meal at a place called Rascals here in Sumter. It's a burger and hot-dog joint next to batting cages. Steve enjoyed hitting a few fast (and even some super fast) baseballs as Brian and I watched and enjoyed some ice cream. Brian loved waving at Steve and saying dada the whole time. Brian (almost 15 months) is of course running all over the place now, can't sit still and wants to wave at everyone and sometimes at no one at all. He's starting to talk with a few mamas, dadas, and bah-bahs (bye-bye) here and there. We can tell sometimes that he gets really frustrated that he can't say more and this means we have countless numbers of mini-tantrums each day. The worst ones are when we are outside playing (pulling up grass, waving at golfers and birds, and picking dandylions) and it's time to go in, he hates when playtime outside ends. The weather has been nice though, 70s and 80s, so we are able to play outside a few times each day. This weekend has been hot, humid, and stormy--a little preview of the summer to come (ugh!). Anyways, I'll post some pictures and videos today. Check out Brian's totsite too, it has been updated recently:
