Lots and Lots of Snow!
We arrived in VA for our 15-day visit on December 19th. That morning a huge storm had rolled through and left almost two feet of snow on the ground. Brian has seen a few inches of snow before, but nothing like this and never enough to sled in. Good thing I'd invested in a snow suit and boots because Brian sledded everyday until the snow was too thin (and possibly was done when his chin ran into a sled on a run down the hill by himself, after that he told us "I don't yike it!" and settled for building snowmen instead) After his first day of sledding, he was so wore out that he climbed into bed by himself, told Steve "I sleep right here now" and was out within minutes. Usually we have to do everything short of tying him to the bed for naps and bedtime.
Brian's Preschool Christmas Party
Our Early "Christmas Morning"
Santa actually visited our house in mid-December since we were going to VA for 15 days over Christmas and I didn't want to wait til we got home in January because (a) I like opening gifts asap and (b) I knew I'd want to tear the tree and holiday decorations down the second we got home, so here's our very early Christmas morning.
Squadron Kids Christmas Party
Saturday, December 12th was our squadron's kids Christmas party, complete with Santa arriving from the North Pole in what else? An F-16 of course, none of this sleigh crap when your kid is an Air Force brat!

The Polar Express Train
On December 5th we headed up to Williams, AZ to board the Polar Express train to the North Pole to visit Santa. Williams is an adorable little town on the historic route 66 and its claim to fame is its antique train line that goes north daily to the Grand Canyon. We were joined by all of Brian's best buddies and their families, the Browns, the Cummings and cousins Noelia and Jake. The kids all wore matching plaid Christmas jammies on the train and got to eat cookies and hot chocolate, and sing Christmas carols. The grand finale was when Santa boarded the train at the North Pole and walked through the train cars, giving each child a silver bell to bring home. Brian loved every second and was especially excited to see Santa and even told Santa that he wanted a "round and round" for Christmas. A "round and round" is a Lightening McQueen race track thing he saw on a TV commercial, Santa brought Brian something very similar.
