Bad Guys: Don't Mess with the Mama!

Steve's parents were in town for Labor Day weekend and Steve's new gun, a Beretta 9mm, was "begging to be shot." I went along with Steve and his dad to the shooting range for a little training in home security and self-defense. I think I did pretty good, this guy definitely would have not made it very far! The shots near his head in the white were me playing around to see if I was a better shot right-handed or left-handed, we decided I'll stick with my left-hand and that anyone breaking into our house will really regret it!!! Steve and I may even have to stop and argue about which one of us gets to shoot the idiot!

Pictures from this month

Pictures from this month:

Steve and Brian boating. We spent two nights at a cabin on Lake Wateree with some of our squadron friends. We all rented a boat for the day and Brian seemed to enjoy sitting on Steve's lap for a boat ride, he even tried falling asleep during the ride! Mommy and her girlfriends even got to go out on the boat, all girls!!! No babies or husbands, we had lots of fun stopping the boat in the middle of the lake and jumping into the water for a swim.

"Daddy, it's so windy!"

BriBear has an adorable little flightsuit outfit (purchased long before we were even pregnant with him in Korea, just planning ahead) and I tried it on him the other day to see how it fit. I think he'll be wearing it for Halloween next year because it's still too big but I took a few pictures of him wearing it because he looked so adorable.

Padron my delay....

I haven't posted since May!? I do have a good excuse and not the obvious one where I say I've been too busy (I have been busy though). I'm trying to decide what to do about the extreme public-ness (for lack of a better word) of blogging on the internet and how extreme public-ness doesn't really mesh well with Steve's career in the military. I just don't want the whole world to know where he is going and when and why, etc. He will be gone alot in the near future and giving details about any of his trips put him and his squadron and even their families in danger. So I won't be including much info about that until I figure out how to make this more private but I will add some adorable pictures of our little Brian, running and climbing and getting bruises and throwing tantrums!

For more on Brian right now, check out his website, I actually update that regularly and do not inlcude info on the going-ons of Steve's job:

Mother's Day Kite Flying

We had a quiet Mother's day yesterday. I got to sleep in and Steve made me scrambled eggs. Steve and Brian gave me a gift certificate for the spa but Steve forgets exactly what is included in "Mother's Day Package A" so I guess it will be a surprise. In the afternoon Steve was dying to test out his F16 kite before we bring it to the beach with us next month. It was hot so Brian got dressed in his kite shirt and shorts (thanks Aunt Claudia) and we went outside to watch. It was rough going at first because as soon as Steve launched the kite, a gust of wind came up and the thing took off, flying over our house and the neighbors house across the street and landed behind their house on the 13th tee. It was still in one piece so we tried again. The second attempt went better and we didn't have to chase the kite across the golf course again. Brian seemed excited about the whole thing, waving at the kite and the moon and was very concerned when the kite took a nosedive and got stuck on our roof. Here are some pictures from the fun:

Launching the kite

Daddy won't let me fly it

My snazzy kite outfit

It's way up there!

Watching very carefully

You can't take your eyes off of it!

You're worse than the Paparazzi, mom!

Kite flying cuddles!

I'll get it down!

An early Mother's Day Gift!

When I picked Brian up from PMO (parent's morning out) at a local church today, he had made me a Mother's Day present (my first present made by him). I have a feeling he wasn't completely cooperative since his pinky is missing but I love it and it is hanging on the fridge already!

Our family as sea turtle decals!

I've always wanted to have a little sea turtle family of decals on the back of my car (aim high!). Thanks mom and dad for bringing these back from Hawaii for us.

Strawberry Picking

We took Brian to a local strawberry farm to pick some berries on saturday. I'd like to say he loved it, but he really only tolerated us picking strawberries because he could run up and down the rows like a crazy person. Here are some pics and Brian's rules for Strawberry picking.

A 15-month-old's rules for Strawberry Picking:

Smile for a few pictures just to keep the folks happy

Squirm a little for the second picture
(you don't want them thinking you are too cooperative)

Remember not to look at the camera again for the duration of the trip
(you aren't being paid to be a model)

Pick a row and run down it with reckless abandon

Crawl if you have to......

But you must get all the way to the end

Then throw a tantrum when Mommy says its time to turn back around

Whatever you do, don't eat any of the freshly picked strawberries, but the squished up ones on the ground are perfectly edible

Agree to eat some of the strawberries but only once they've been turned into homemade ice cream
