Say "Bye Bye" or Else!!!

Brian has been cracking us up lately with this new routine he has. He comes up to us and loudly announces "bye bye" but won't leave until we say it back. If you try to ignore him or say anything besides "bye bye" in return, a hissy fit may occur. Just for the heck of it a few days ago I answered his "bye byes" with "no....no bye byes, stay here and cuddle" and oh boy, did I make a mistake! Here is what happens when you don't say "bye bye!" I'm not proud of sending my child into a hissy fit on purpose, but it's just so cute!!!!

WARNING: the annoying toddler scream may send you over the edge if you are already in a bad mood or have been listening to your own toddler's annoying scream all day ;)

Rack Monster!

I just had to take this picture of Brian sleeping in this morning. I took it at 8:52 am. Lately he's been sleeping in until 8:30 or 9 am, I love it! I'm not a morning person and am hoping that gene has snuck into Brian's DNA! He does go to bed somewhat late, usually 8:30 or 9 pm, but still, 12 hours is rare for a 19-month-old, especially since he still naps 2-3 hours a day. But I'm sure just as fast as the sleeping-in phase came on, it will be gone and we'll be up-and-at-em' again at 7 am very soon. I'm just going to enjoy it as long as he'll do it!

We've lived on the 12th hole of a golf course for two years now and just got around the playing a few holes this week! Steve has played the course by himself but this was our first trip out as a family. Steve and I would golf together alot in Korea. And by "golf" I mean that he golfed and I drove the cart and knit while pretending to watch. I did try playing once after alot of prodding but usually frustrating sports like golf or skiing cause my terrets syndrome to flare up and that's never good! So anyways, wednesday afternoon we loaded up a golf cart with clubs, snacks, a sippy cup of juice, sweatshirts, and a stroller (in case things weren't going well and I had a long walk home with Brian). Brian loved it! "Loved" is an understatement. He ran around the greens while Steve played, tried to push the golf cart when we weren't moving, and said "hi, dog" to the only mean Lab on earth (an unfriendly lab is a rare creature but we do have one living on the golf course here). When we were all done and walking away from the golf cart, Brian tore his little hand away from Steve's hand and ran back to the cart, climbed up in the driver's seat, grabbed the wheel, and said "C'mon guys, let's play another nine holes." Okay, he didn't say that exactly but we knew what he meant. And in true Brian fashion, a tantrum ensued the entire walk home from the clubhouse. We'll have to golf again soon!

Gymboree!

Brian and I have been going to Gymboree once a week since June. Brian loves it. He's learned how to climb everything and loves the slides and the parachute time at the end. He dances along to the music and says "yay" loudly at the end of every song. He's even given hugs and kisses to a few of the young ladies in class! He loves getting his gymbo stamp at the end, usually on his foot so it won't wash off and we can show Daddy at the end of the day. We've even tricked Daddy into attending gymboree a few times on Saturday, these pictures are from last weekend.

Brian and I are taking Aquatots swim lessons at the Y with our friends Angela and Caroline. He's had two classes so far and likes being in the water, hates getting any in his mouth, thinks mommy blowing bubbles is funny, but does not see the need to try blowing bubbles himself. He's not really into kicking or reaching with his arms, but has an execeptional koala-like death-grip around my neck most of the class. If my neck is too hard to get to, he can use his legs in a death-grip around my leg as well, now that's talent. But the lessons tire him out for naptime and it's fun and we are spending less time sitting around at home and maybe one day he'll enjoy the pool and actually need to learn how to swim. Oh, pictures courtesy of daddy on a morning off this week, when he was dragged out of bed grumbling about how he'll be debriefing at 2am that night. Daddy even enjoyed the lesson and shortly after these pictures were taken, he joined us in the pool and played with Brian for the rest of the lesson.

The Phantom mommy, normally absent from all pictures, makes an appearance and in a bathing suit no less!

Brian's First Airshow

Our Air Base held its annual Air Show this last saturday and we brought Brian out to see the "dadas" or as adults call them, airplanes. He knows they aren't called "dadas" but any word he can't say (which is almost every word) comes out as "dada." Steve, however, doesn't realize this and is incredibly flattered by all the endless talk about him that Brian seems to do. Birds are also "dada" and dogs are "daaa." The only things he really clearly says is hi, bye, wee, yay, and dada (intentionally). He does sign to us when he's all done and, new this week, when he wants more of something. But back to the airshow:
