Still attempting to get caught up, these pictures are from the end of April 2014, Brian and Steve went on a 21-hour bus ride each way to Normandy for a weekend camporee with the Scouts. Brian still talks about this almost daily and has become almost obsessed with WW2 and learning about it.

Nice little blog break
Well, that was a nice little 7-month blog break! The reason for it is that we have been extremely busy this year and also, I've been stalling because my normal blog/scrapbooking process takes me forever so I've decided to change it up. What I used to do was edit our pictures into a blog friendly format, blog them by uploading the pictures and then adding my commentary/journaling. And then after they were blogged, I would edit again to put the blog post into a scrapbook form because ultimately I want to have scrapbooks for my kids to look back on one day as well as the blog. This process just takes too much time so my new process is this: I edit and put the pictures in a digital scrapbook page. I use Digital Project Life. I'm going to upload those pages to the blog. Done. So there might not be as much detail, but it also didn't take me so much time. Time is what I'm short on these days as Steve has been TDY quite a bit this year, we have been traveling quite a bit this year, we have swim lessons, cub scouts, jujitsu, ballet, cheernastics. Oh and I've taken on the Cub Pack Treasurer position and Social Treasurer and Bazaar Treasurer for our Officer's Spouses Club. Oh and also, it's summer so the kids need entertaining every minute of every day. They also need to eat 3 meals a day plus snacks, it's ridiculous! But we are having a great summer, maybe our last in Italy!

Christmas Break
After we returned from our Austria ski trip, Christmas break began. The kids were out of school and Steve was working just a few days a week because of the holidays. We decided to host a Tamale Party on Christmas Eve. My family in CA has one every year and I miss it, so why not start our own Tamale Party tradition. In preparation, I made 137 tamales! We even got a piƱata for the kids! Overall, it was a good time and although I dread making more tamales, I think we’ll be hosting again next year.
Our Christmas Day was quieter, we just stayed in, ripped open all the gifts first thing, spent the whole day playing with the new stuff, and I made a Turkey and all the fixings for dinner. A few days later we put on real clothes and took the kids to the slopes in Civetta for the day for our friends, the R and M families . They had a great practice area for Brian, a nice sledding hill, and a free play area. Steve and I each got in a few runs and the kids had a great time. We also went bowling and to the movies, but our break was pretty low key overall.
